Child Support Overview and General Information

In Ohio, parents have a legal duty to support their biological and adopted children.  If a parent is not residing in the same household as their child/children, the legal duty of support may take the form of an Administrative or Court Order to pay a set monthly amount of child support to the parent with whom the child or children are residing.

The child support statutes are gender neutral and treat both parents as being equally responsible for the financial support of their children.
